Adam came to Dunfermline on loan from Liverpool in January 2007. He scored against Celtic at Celtic Park in the league but he also made 5 starts in the 2007 Scottish Cup including the Hampden final against Celtic.
Returned to Liverpool at the end of his loan period but his career turned out to be a bit nomadic and he returned to Scotland with St Mirren in the 2018-2019 season where he made 13 appearances.
Adam had two successful spells at Barnsley between January 2009 and 2011, and again between 2015 and 2018. In his second spell there he was in the side that won promotion out of League One. Between those seasons at Barnsley, Wolves, Huddersfield Town and Rotherham United featured on Adam`s CV before he returned to Oakwell in September 2015 and went on to make almost 200 appearances for the Tykes.
