Goals from Jerimiah Chilokoa-Mullen and Chris Kane were good enough to claim victory over Queen`s Park.

The Pars final away league fixture was against Queen`s Park at The city Stadium, next door to Barclays Hampden. So for the second Saturday running the Fifers were hoping for success in Glasgow.

As a result of Raith Rovers losing to St Johnstone the previous evening, Dunfermline had already qualified for the Premiership play-offs. Queen`s Park were one of three clubs already assured of Championship football next season and no longer in contention for promotion.

There were four changes to the Dunfermline starting eleven `“ Jeremiah Chilokoa-Mullen, Robbie Fraser, Alfons Amade and Chris Kane coming in for Shea Kearney, Chris Hamilton, Tashan Oakley-Boothe and Josh Cooper.

The home side brought in Roddy Macgregor, Henry Fieldson and Ross McLean for Jamie Bradley, Michael Ruth and the suspended Scott Martin.

The teams changed ends before Alfons Amade kicked off with the Pars attacking the goal at the south end. John Tod was on the right of a back three with Nurudeen Abdulai deployed in midfield. It was seventh minute before the home side produced the first shot of the afternoon, a stinging effort routinely dealt with by Aston Oxborough. At the other end a Callumn Morrison cross was bait for Andrew Tod but his header went wide.

Andrew Tod then forced the first corner in 12th minute. Matty Todd`s delivery led to an A Tod shot that was blocked, another Todd cross that Tod and Kane got bites at but none that could break through the Queen`s defence. Four minutes later Todd prodded a cross in from the right that Tod sent wide. A Mullen foul on Smith handed the Spiders a free kick in front of the dugouts but they were caught offside when the ball was launched towards Pars box.

Morrison forced Calum Ferrie into turning his on target shot around the keeper`s right hand post and from the 25th minute corner the Pars would open the scoring. Todd`s corner reached Morrison on the far side and he returned an inviting cross that CHILOKOA-MULLEN headed home from close in. It was the captain`s second goal of the campaign. 0-1

Kieran Ngwenya was shown yellow when Aidan Connolly went down on the left edge of the box. Rather harsh and bewildering decision that allowed Louis Longridge to deliver the setpiece that Dunfermline defended appropriately. A break up the right by Morrison and a pass aimed at Kane in the box was sent behind for another Dunfermline corner but this time the home defence held firm.

It had been a first half dominated by the cup finalists, the home side had had their moments but Dunfermline maybe should have had more to show for their 60% possession.

Kyle Benedictus replaced Kieran Ngwenya for the second half and it could not have begun any better for the visitors. Todd made ground down the right and his cross was glanced home by Chris KANE with just 31 seconds on the clock. 0-2

The Fifers continued to be a danger Morrison forcing another corner out of Ferrie. Again Todd`s 52nd minute delivery from the left travelled to the far side where A Tod returned and Kane came close to converting again. Queen`s responded with former Par Callum Smith heading over the crossbar.

Neil Lennon made a double substitution in 60th minute Shea Kearney and Josh Cooper coming on for Matty Todd and Andrew Tod.

Fraser went to great lengths to hold on to possession and drive his way down the left and then along the byeline but as he run out of steam Ferrie grabbed the ball. That was the former Rangers youth`s last involvement as he was then subbed along with Callumn Morrison to make way for Rory Macleod and Lucas Fyfe in 74 minutes.

Next chance went the Spiders way `“ a fine move from Mackenzie through Connolly to Macgregor whose dangerous cross was headed away by Chilokoa-Mullen. In 81 minutes Fyfe slipped the ball left for Macleod, he won a corner on the left that Cooper delivered from the left and Chilokoa-Mullen struck wide left. Cooper hit the post with five minutes remaining after playing a neat 1-2 off Kane.

The outcome was never in any doubt once Chilokoa-Mullen got the opener. Dunfermline will go into the last league game against Arbroath on Friday night and then face the same club twice in eight days when the Premiership Play-offs take place. Arbroath drew 0-0 at home to Partick Thistle and so Dunfermline go into Friday night`s final home league game in fourth place one point behind the Red Lichties.
